What is Super Santa Day?

No comments:

Next Saturday, December 8th is Super Santa Day.
Some of you may be wondering what that means.  In the past, DYNT called it Men's Night.  But this year, more local shops got in on it and we scheduled an entire day just for it!

So here's what you do:  Make your wish list, using items from the participating shops.  Then give it to your Santa.  Send Santa shopping on the 8th to those shops.  The local shopkeepers will help Santa shop from the wish list!  Some shops will be having snacks and drinks.  Most of them will have specials.  Here at DYNT, all US made yarns are 15% off, while books, patterns, and kits are 20% off!

Also, just inside the DYNT entryway, there will be donation based gift wrapping.  So bring all your stuff, and have it wrapped!  Donations will benefit Parents in Toto, a great organization in Zelienople that offers support to families and kids with Autism.  Please consider stopping by and having a few packages wrapped - even if you aren't out shopping that day.

So who are the participating shops?  Seven of them are located here in Harmony - talk about easy gift shopping!  Check the list for your favorite shop and mark your (or someone else's) calendar!  Because really, if you aren't a fan of the wish list idea, but you still need to get some shopping done, it'll be a great day to do just that!

Noni patterns now in stock at DYNT

No comments:
New this week - Noni!  I occasionally get excited about a new pattern (Who doesn't?  Good patterns just open up a whole new world - and increase your project list.).  But a whole collection or a book?!  Yes!  The new Noni Flowers book is now in stock at DYNT.  And they are signed by Nora J. Bellows, herself.

Along with the amazing book, I've picked up a few of her bag patterns.  I love these.  I want to make one of each!  I also made sure to pick up the new bag patterns "Lipstick & Change" as a kit - so you get the do dads and bits to complete a bag, along with the pattern (yarn not included).

And I didn't forget about the crocheters out there!  I made sure to get two of the popular bag patterns in the crochet version too!

The book would be a great gift for the knitter whose got everything - be sure to put it on your Super Santa Wish List (see the store for details).  I can see any of the bag patterns working up into great gifts for the discriminating woman on your gift list, too.  Or for yourself - when was the last time you made something for yourself?

There's alot going on at DYNT between now and the end of the year.  Grab your pencil and your planner -I'm still old school.  But if you want to grab your cell phone, go for it.  Either way, mark your calendar and call to reserve your spot!  The free knit/crochet-a-longs don't require registration, but the classes with fees do.  And the Finishing Class has homework (You'll need to bring some guage swatches that can be seamed together.)!

How To Read A Knitting Pattern - Haven’t knit from a pattern before, or you take one look at a pattern and think it’s written in another language (it is, you know)? Or you find a nice pattern with a lovely photo but you’re not sure if it contains everything you need to know to make the garment? Stop in for this 1-hour class and learn to figure out what those pattern abbreviations mean and what a well-written pattern should contain.

1-hour class, limited to 4 students, $15  Carol McFadden, Instructor.

Gauge Swatch – What Is It And Why Is It Important To My Knitting? -  When a pattern says, “Take the time to check your gauge before beginning” and the equipment necessary says, “One US #5 (3.75 mm) and #6 (4 mm) 16" circular needles, US #6 dpns (or size needed to achieve gauge)”—why is that in the pattern? Ever wonder why the sweater/hat/mittens you just knit from that cute pattern came out too big or too small? Join us to learn why we make swatches, how we use them, and why swatches will make or break your knitting.

2-hour class, limited to 4 students, $30  Carol McFadden, Instructor.
