Crestone

No comments:
So what's new this week?  Crestone!  Crestone is part of the Classic Elite Mountain Top line- a line of yarns spun from natural, un-dyed fibers.  Crestone is 100% un-dyed wool in a 100 yd hank of worsted weight yarn.

I chose to carry the Mountain Top line at DYNT because it is un-dyed.  Many people are looking for a more natural fiber, yet still want the consistency and performance of a commercially made yarn.  While spinners have had the advantage over non-spinner in the natural fiber realm for a long time, I feel that the Mountain Top line will help bridge that gap for many people.

It's very easy to envision a beautiful cabled scarf or hat made from the naturally tweedy Crestone.  I can't wait to play with it...I just may need to make a few cabled scarves for the giftees on my Christmas list.  My sis does love a nice grey.

Waverly Wool

No comments:
I recently hung a few things around the shop; some displays for hats, scarves and the like, a wall hanging of sheep and a few pictures I've made (I like to work with paper - it's still a fiber!), and a chalkboard!  You may recognize the chalkboard from my previous location in Butler.  There is served as a notice of what was new and going on at DYNT.  Here, in it's new location, I suspect it will be put to good use once again.  I like keeping my customers up to date this way.  It also helps jog my memory when someone asks "What's new since I was in last?"  I may not remember specifically when they were in last, and what was in stock then, but this will at least point us both in the right direction.

On the recent arrivals subject... Waverly Woolcolors!
"This  100% Wool Persian Yarn is ideal for needlepoint. The plies can easily be separated to cover the different sizes of canvas. One strand of the three ply yarn will nicely cover a 13-count canvas.

Although this product is designed expressly for needlepoint, it is also a wonderful knitting yarn. It gauges at 3 ½ stitches per inch on size 10 needles.

Please note, these colors are grouped into families to show the subtle ranges available, but are sold separately. And of course, due to varied monitor settings we cannot guarantee the accuracy of these colors." (Brownsheep.com)

I do have a comparison chart to compare Waverly's colors to Paternayan colors.  If you already are working on a project, this should help us find the perfect color for you.

I'm excited about picking this line up because now DYNT carries an American Made Needlepoint yarn!  Just one more way you can be sure that all your fiber arts are supporting your neighbors while beautifying your world.

The first of many fall/winter festivals in Harmony

No comments:
It's been a busy day here at DYNT and the Center of Harmony (CoH).  We're getting ready for the weekend - Saturday is the Bluegrass & Old Time Music in Harmony concert/festival.  Here at the CoH we're excited because the food and beer vendors will be in our parking lot!

Some of the preparation included a good cleaning, some fall decor and the  reorganization of our porch.  As you can see we've recently obtained and "Open" flag and have mounted it out in the parking lot - we're all hoping that this draws attention to those of us in the back of the lot - Pearlette, Just Pam and of course DYNT.  And just because we're in the back of the lot - rest assured, you aren't using the back door!  Please, come on in!

Even if you aren't attending the festival, the porch will be open for loitering all day Saturday.  Why not bring your project and claim a spot for people watching?

Also, with the festival, parking at the CoH will be tight - ok, so it may be non-existent.  You may need to walk through town!  Bummer.  I know how boring it can be walking through an historic district during a festival weekend!  Just kidding!  All the shops should be open, it'll be a great day to join us and visit some of the other shops.  Not to mention the music.  (Tickets are still available and they benefit the Harmony Borough Parks Board)

Please don't let the traffic or parking keep you from stopping in!  While festivals are great, I always like seeing my regulars!  You're the ones who keep me on my toes and share your projects and idea with me.
