August Sale!

No comments:
Well, August is going to be here soon!  Who else is shocked at the speed of it's arrival?  I've been thinking for a while about running a few things on sale to clear room for some new stuff.  August seems like just as good a time as any.

Starting next Wednesday, August 1st:

  • All the needles and hooks that are currently 50% off will be 75% off!  Stock up, round out your collection, grab an extra set with which you can teach your kids.
  • All Aunt Lydia's Crochet thread is $1 each.  Cotton or Bamboo.
  • All Cotton Cones are 75% off.  These are also great for the crocheter that needs a large quantity, machine knitting and hand knitting, or as an embellishment in or plied with your hand spun yarns.  Colors range from bright pinks and purples to some more mellow mustard.
  • Silk & Ivory Embroidery Thread will be $3 each.  They are also great for embellishing, embroidery and cross stitch.  The thread is a blend of silk & wool; 28.8yrds per skein.
  • O-wool Balance yarn will be 30% off - $6.65each.  This yarn is one of my fav's but will no longer be available to LYS (O-wool's going to online sales only).  It's a great blend of 50/50 Organic wool/Organic Cotton and is machine washable (cold water).
All sales are final and sale prices are only valid on items listed and in-stock.

So what am I making room for?  How about some possum fur yarn?  Strange, but amazingly soft and snugly.  Waverly Wool Embroidery Thread from Brown Sheep in Nebraska - the color selection is huge, so I'll be starting with seasonal stuff, maybe some pumpkin and leaves oranges and browns.  And who knows... I'm looking forward to all the possibilities.  CEY has a line similar the the O-wool Balance, I may pick it up, as I really like the versatility of the 50 cotton/50 wool blends.    They also have a line of un-dyed wools and alpaca yarns that I'd like venture into...

Purple Purse Passion

No comments:
Hand spun yarn.  Crocheted bottom.
Knitted in the round sides and handles.
Well, I'm back from vacation!  It's amazing how 1 week can go so fast, and so many things can change while so many other things can stay the same.

I finished my purse/bag!  I spun all the yarn for it using a drop spindle - have I mentioned recently how much I enjoy spinning with the drop spindle?

The bottom (grey) is crocheted in the round.  I then picked up the stitches and knit in the round.  For the handles I bound of an even number of stitches on each side and then cast on twice as many when I came back around to that section.  I continued in the round for a few more rows to make the handles a bit heavier.  I then fulled the whole thing.  It didn't shrink as much as I thought it would, but it's a good size.  Despite it not shrinking, it did "thicken" up or get more dense, which is really what I was going for.

The roving I used to spin the yarn was Kraemer's Mauch Chunky Roving.  As a beginner, I really like their roving.

So now it's on to my next project... what about you, what are you working on now?

Ramp it up!

No comments:
Check it out!  DYNT, Just Pam and Pearlette have a new ramp!  It makes the porch even more inviting!   It's the little things around here that just make our day.

The canopy was put up to shade the guys while they installed the ramp.  We liked it so much we left it up.  Because of the location of the porch, it gets quite shady in the mid to late afternoon.  So the canopy just adds a few more hours of shade!  I know most of you think I'm crazy, but the porch is my favorite place to sit and knit or crochet, even in this heat.

Late last week, DYNT received a few more Frog Tree patterns!  Vintage Boo Bear uses Meriboo and makes a darling teddy bear.  Hidden Treasure Pocket Socks is a pattern that uses Pediboo and creates cute socks with pockets!   If you include all 4 pockets in your pair, you just may want to leave your purse at home when you wear your new socks.  The Origami Pullover pattern creates a very unique sweater - and I have the pattern in knit or crochet!  Each pattern sells for $4.99.

On a personal note- I won't be around the shop next week.  I'll be competing at NAUCC (North American Unicycling Competition and Convention).  The shop will be open; a friend is able to shop-sit for me but the e-updates may not be quite as frequent next week.
