Things have been slow at DYNT recently...
Where is everyone? My guess, getting into the summer groove. I know I love summer. For one thing, I'm finally warm.
But, like I said, it's been slow at DYNT, so where is everyone and what are they working on? I recently saw a post/question some where about whether or not knitters put their knitting away in the summer 'cause the wool is just to hot. Is that you? Or do you put it away because there's just too much other stuff to do? Are you a caner /freezer? Gardening?
How about traveling, I often take a project with me when I go on vacation. How about you?
I know for me, this time of year is just plain busy. My DH's is home and we try and get those pesky house maintenance things taken care of. The daylight lasts longer and I spend more time in the yard. Vacation and family time take up chunks of time. But I still have at least 2 projects going. I frequently pick up my projects when I sit down to relax and cool off. It sounds silly to some, but I just plain love wool - so summer heat doesn't really keep me from working with it.
Regardless, remember that DYNT is here when you need a new project to work on while sitting by the pool, waiting at the airport, talking to Grandmom at the family reunion...

More Tatamy Tweed Worsted now in stock!
There was a box waiting for me at the door of the shop when I arrived today! I'm always amazed at how much yarn my suppliers can smoosh into the boxes they send me, and how heavy that then makes the boxes! But it is fun to carefully open the boxes and watch the yarns explode in a riot of soft fuzzy colors.
Today's box was from Kraemer Yarns, right here in Pennsylvania! I have a few new colors of the Tatamy Tweed Cotton Blend in a worsted weight - including what some would say is a hideous green, but I love - "Avocado" . What's really funny to me, the tweedy specks of red, pink, blue and green really make it look like a sliced avocado that's started to oxidize (You do sprinkle lemon juice on you avocados to keep them a yummy green don't you?).
Anyway, each ball of Tatamy Tweed Worsted is 3.5oz/ 100grams / 180yards and retails for $6.25. And, if you're thinking about creating a patriotic do-dad for July, DYNT has some nice reds, whites, and blues. On a side note, I opened the shop a bit late today, sorry about that. My DH was heading off to the Twin Cities to visit (and race) with some distant friends. I couldn't go, and that's fine because I wasn't going to be participating in this particular race, and I'll get to see a few of the same people later in July.

Zitron Trekking now in stock!
Guess what just arrived? If you guessed more yarn, you're right! I'm excited about these new offerings. If you're a sock knitter and need some yarn for a summer project...DYNT has just the thing!
First, more Frog Tree Yarn! Frog Tree is a fair-trade company. The yarns are made in Peru. The new yarns, pictured in the white tub in the top photo, is Meriboo MW. It's a dk weight, machine washable blend of Merino and Bamboo (bamboo is made using the viscose process). This blend is super soft and silky. Each ball is approximately 50 grams/1.75 oz, 105 yards and sells for $8.40.

Also in, a new line for DYNT, Zitron's Trekking pro natura and Trekking (XXL). Zitron is an environmentally friendly German company. Their Trekking line is dyed in accordance with Oeko Tex Standard 100. Which I think is pretty cool, and fits in with DYNT's mission to carry eco-friendly products.
The Trekking (XXL) is a tweedy blend of 75% Superwash wool/ 25% nylon. Each ball contains 100g/3.5oz/459 yards and retails for $17.50! The new to DYNT colors are pictured in the photo below the middle photo.
The pro natura is a blend of 75% Superwash wool/25% bamboo. The colors are variegated. You can see them in above the Meriboo in the top photo or in the bottom photo. Each ball is 100g/2.5oz/459 yards and retails for $19.95.
Either sock yarns would also be great for light weight hats and scarves or wraps. Not to mention fingerless mitts and baby clothes! They are incredibly soft and squishy.

Meriboo MW now in stock!
June and July are going to be busy at DYNT. I hope you'll take the time out of your busy schedule to stop in and say hi and stock up on your project needs. People think of fiber arts as a winter time project, but summer vacation has many opportunities to work on a short project. Vacation, car travel, days at the pool, running the 'rents to the doctor, all have little bits (and some long bits!) of time in which you could be working on a pair of socks, a baby blanket, a small shrug...well, just about anything!
This Saturday is the Harmony Plant Exchange. DYNT will be open during the event. Stop at the Center of Harmony Shuttle Stop and stop in. Pick up a cup of coffee at Wunderbar. Bottles and Barrels is scheduled to open then too...they are still painting and working hard on their space, so I hope they'll be ready!
Beginning Spinning, the Drop Spindle Class will be on June 23rd from 10:30am - 12:30pm. The cost is $30 and includes the roving for the class and use of a spindle. Pre-registration is required, as it is a very hands on class, so class size is limited.
